Dataquest Cites Altera As Leader In Programmable Logic
- 27% Increase Compared to 1996 Revenue
- Over Twice the Rate of PLD Industry Growth
San Jose, Calif., May 4, 1998--Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced that the latest semiconductor industry report from Dataquest, a global market research and consulting company serving the high-technology and financial communities, shows Altera is the leading supplier of programmable logic devices worldwide.
"Big news in the top 10 1997 ASIC rankings is Altera, which passed Xilinx as the No. 1 programmable logic device supplier and now ranks ninth in total 1997 ASICs," said Bryan Lewis, author of the Dataquest Alert report, Dataquest releases 1997 ASIC market share rankings, published April 6, 1998. "PLD suppliers had a tough year in 1997 and grew by only 12.3 percent. Altera Corporation still managed to grow 27 percent." The report shows Altera with 1997 sales of $631 million, 3 percent more than the next-ranked supplier.
Other market research houses such as In-Stat and IC Insights have also recognized Altera as the industry-leading supplier of programmable logic devices.
