Altera Ships 64-Bit, 66-MHz PCI Development Kit
- Development Kit Supports All PCI Cores from Altera and AMPPSM Partners
- Off-the-Shelf, Proven Hardware for Emulation and Performance Testing
San Jose, Calif., December 13, 1999-- Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced the immediate availability of the FLEX® PCI Development Kit which provides a hardware/software platform and PCI demonstration design to speed Altera's programmable logic customers to market. The new 64-bit, 66-MHz compliant development board supports all of Altera's and AMPP partners' PCI megafunctions, and includes an on-board EPF10K100E programmable logic device and custom prototyping area. The FLEX PCI Development Kit comes standard with an application software program that demonstrates data transfer speeds attained through the PCI core. Also included with the kit is a demonstration programming file containing an executable Master/Target PCI core, SDRAM controller core, and source code for the control logic.
"The FLEX PCI Development Kit provides real-world, real-time execution that can save a designer substantial software simulation time," said Justin Cowling, Altera senior intellectual property marketing manager. "The kit eliminates the wait for a verified hardware environment to begin real-time software debugging, enabling co-design of hardware and software. The PCI Development Kit is an important part of Altera's PCI strategy."
PCI Demonstration Application and PCI Design
The FLEX PCI Development Kit application software offers a friendly user interface that effectively demonstrates Altera's easy-to-use PCI cores. The application shows how to
test various PCI configurations and achieve maximum system performance for the example
PCI design.
The source code for Windows 98/NT drivers is included in the kit. A driver evaluation package is available now from KRF Technology, Israel, and will soon be available from Blue Water Systems, Seattle, WA.
Availability & Pricing
Altera's FLEX PCI Development Kit is available now for $1,995. The development kit consists of the board, PCI demonstration application and design, download cable, source code
for the PCI demonstration design, software drivers, and an evaluation version of a PCI driver developer's kit.
