Altera Springs into Action with Daffodil Days Fundraiser
Seventeenth Annual Daffodil Days Raises Funds for the American Cancer Society's Patient Services, Research and Educational Programs
San Jose, Calif., April 17, 2002 Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced its continued support of the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days fundraiser, helping to generate more than $425,000 for the society's ongoing efforts in patient services, cancer research, community education, and advocacy programs.
"Altera and its employees have once again demonstrated their strong support of the American Cancer Society," said Jack Fitzhenry, Altera's vice president of human resources. "As the presenting sponsor and Silicon Valley's largest contributor, Altera is proud to be a significant force in the success of the society's 17th annual Daffodil Days fundraising campaign."
Through sponsorship, employee contributions and Altera's matching funds program, Altera raised more than $75,000 for the American Cancer Society's outreach programs. This year Altera also rallied its Canadian offices in Ottawa and Toronto to participate in the concurrent Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Days campaign. Altera's Corporate Giving Program provides funding and volunteer work to local non-profit organizations, with a primary focus on education K-12, social welfare, and at-risk youth. Through the Altera Community Team (ACT) volunteer program, Altera employees donate their time and skills to a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout their communities.

Now in its 17th year, the American Cancer Society's annual Daffodil Days fundraiser sells and distributes bouquets to local schools, homes, businesses and hospitals. With funds raised through Daffodil Days in Silicon Valley, the American Cancer Society provides services for cancer patients and their families such as transportation and lodging, local research support, and educational programs on cancer awareness, prevention, detection, and treatment.
