Altera Adds Five New Design Services Partners in North America

The New CDCs Bring Additional Design Services to Customers

San Jose, Calif., August 14, 2002—Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced that Adaptive Micro-Ware, Innocor, Logic Product Development, Nuvation, and Vanteon have been qualified as Altera Certified Design Centers (CDCs). These engineering consulting firms, already Altera Consultants Alliance Program (ACAP®) partners, were selected based on their proven track record of success. The new Altera CDCs, briefly described below, bring industry specific expertise to customers leveraging Altera's system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions.

  • Adaptive Micro-Ware (http://www.adaptivemicro.com), based in Fort Wayne, Ind., serves broadband and digital video communication markets with digital hardware and end-to-end system design, intellectual property (IP) solutions, rapid prototyping, and system integration.
  • Innocor (http://www.innocor.com), based in Almonte, Ontario, Canada, designs and manufactures industry-leading test equipment, development systems, and core technology for broadband and legacy telecom applications. Innocor also provides a number of IP cores in the area of data communications through its Altera Megafunction Partnership Program (AMPPSM) partnership with Altera. Innocor serves all of Canada as well as the East Coast of the United States.
  • Logic Product Development (http://www.logicpd.com), based in Minneapolis, Minn., is a fully integrated product development company working on IP development, engineering development, worldwide manufacturing, and single-board computer solutions. Logic Product Development is one of the fastest growing technology development consulting firms in the Midwest.
  • Nuvation (http://www.nuvation.com), based in San Jose, Calif., provides turnkey hardware, IP, and firmware design services for communications, defense, security, consumer electronics, and medical devices.
  • Vanteon (http://www.vanteon.com), headquartered in Pittsford, New York, provides software and hardware design and development services, with design centers on the East and West Coasts.

With the current economic conditions and the high cost of ASIC development, designers are moving toward cost-effective, programmable logic solutions. Altera's CDC program brings world-class system-on-a-chip designers into the world of SOPC applications. The CDC program gives Altera customers access to the SoC design expertise often required in today's most complex SOPC applications, integrating Altera's FPGAs, Excalibur embedded processor solutions, IP, and their own customized logic. Using Altera devices, tools, and IP, CDC partners act as a single point of contact and help designers minimize design cycles and decrease development costs and risks.

"Certified Design Centers are Altera's premier design services partners," said Ali Erdengiz, director of technical services at Altera. "Our customers can rest assured that they are receiving best-in-class engineering services from Altera CDCs."
