MorethanIP Delivers a Complete Library of IP Cores for Altera Stratix GX Devices

MorethanIP's 10-Gigabit Ethernet IP Cores Optimized for Altera's Stratix GX Devices

San Jose, Calif., November 7, 2002—Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) customers now have access to MorethanIP's extensive portfolio of 10-Gigabit Ethernet intellectual property (IP) cores. Optimized for Altera's recently announced Stratix GX device family, the cores give designers an ideal solution for a range of 10-Gigabit Ethernet applications such as LAN PHY and WAN PHY.

"Through working with Altera during the Stratix GX device functional development, we were able to architect a library of transciever cores around the unique silicon attributes of the family," said Francois Balay, CEO of MorethanIP. "These cores are optimized to leverage Stratix GX silicon features including rate-matching, equalization, and the quad-structure of the Stratix GX 3.125-Gbps transceiver."

The Stratix GX device family was designed for easy implementation of the XAUI protocol to help designers meet the challenges posed by high-speed 10-Gbps applications now moving into wide deployment.

"MorethanIP's 10-Gigabit cores are uniquely optimized to leverage the XAUI functionality built into the Stratix GX transceiver," said Craig Lytle, vice president of Altera's intellectual property business unit. "Collaboration early in the silicon development process and during silicon checkout ensures success with these cores."

About MorethanIP's 10-Gigabit Ethernet IP

MorethanIP 10-Gigabit Ethernet cores provide a complete solution meeting designer requirements for efficient solution design. The IP cores are available on Altera Stratix and APEX II devices and have been implemented in multiple customer designs. MorethanIP's 10-Gigabit Ethernet IP core library includes:

  • 10-Gigabit Ethernet XAUI MAC (Media Access Controller)
  • 10-Gigabit Ethernet MAC with FIFO (with Atlantic interface)
  • 10-Gigabit Ethernet 10GBase-R PCS (Physical Coding Sub-Layer for LAN PHY Applications)
  • 10-Gigabit Ethernet 10GBase-W PCS (Physical Coding Sub-Layer for WAN PHY Applications)
  • Gigabit Ethernet MAC with 1000Base-X PCS
