IP Technology - PCI & Bus Interfaces
Peripheral component interconnect (PCI) local bus standards serve as the main general-purpose bus in nearly every desktop computer throughout the world, as well as the standard interface in embedded systems.
PCI's flexible design allows it to keep pace with tremendous increases in central processing unit (CPU) performance and data capacity. This flexibility makes PCI design suitable for applications such as network adapters, system area networks, embedded controllers, graphic accelerator boards, and servers.
Altera's APEX, ACEX, and FLEX® devices provide a programmable logic PCI implementation by meeting timing and electrical requirements for a variety of PCI applications. The PCI protocol is provided in Altera's PCI MegaCore® functions as well as in third-party Altera Megafunction Partners Program (AMPPSM) functions.
