Frame-Mapped GFP Controller

from Nuvation

Request Free Evaluation

AMPP Approved
OpenCore Support
Atlantic(TM) Compliant

Features

The Nuvation GFP-F megafunction includes the following features:

  • Fully compliant with Frame-Mapped General Framing Procedure (GFP‑F) specification from I‑TUT
  • Encapsulator receives frames from multiple channels and individually maps frames into single GFP frames
  • Decapsulator receives frame-mapped GFP frames, and removes various GFP-unique fields
  • GFP and Ethernet configuration and status signals are available, and mappable to any micro-controller interface
  • Parameter and status signals may be connected to a CPU interface such as an 8051 or I2C interface
  • Extension header supports a linear (point-to-point) connection. Other topologies supported with modifications.
  • GFP control frames are supported at a maximum of 10 percent of full line-rate
  • Minimum packet-size is 32 bytes
  • Control frames always have higher priority than user data frames and packets
  • AtlanticTM-compliant interface: datapath interfaces to the 64-bit Atlantic specification at 50 MHz

Description

Nuvation's GFP-F IP Core receives and maps entire client signal frames into one GFP frame adhering to the format set out for the frame-mapped GFP mode of client signal adaptation. The GFP-F Core encapsulates entire octet-aligned, variable-length client signal frames into one GFP frame. The core is optimized for the Altera® Stratix®, Stratix II, and Cyclone® II devices.

Device Utilization & Performance

Table 1 lists typical utilization numbers for the GFP-F megafunction.

Note:

  1. Quartus® II software reports the number of adaptive look-up tables (ALUTs) that the design uses in Stratix II devices. The LE count is based on this number of ALUTs.
