Questions & Answers
The following are the most frequently asked questions about the Nios II subscription renewal program.
How do I know if my Nios II subscription has expired?
If you purchased either the subscription or a Nios II development kit more than one year ago, your Nios II subscription has expired. Altera will attempt to contact you by mail when your subscription is close to expiring.
When does my renewal start?
If your subscription has already expired, then the start date is the date of your subscription renewal purchase. If your subscription has not yet expired, then the 12-month period of your new subscription will start immediately after your current subscription ends.
Does my Nios II subscription status affect my Nios II product license?
No. You are licensed to create and distribute systems containing the Nios II embedded processor with the most recent version Altera shipped to you, even after your Nios II subscription has expired. However, if you do not have a current subscription, you will not automatically receive the latest processor and tools upgrades as they are released.
Does my Nios II subscription status affect my subscription for Quartus II software and other development tools?
No. These subscription programs are independent. If you would like to coordinate the subscription renewal of both the Nios II processor and Altera design software, please contact your local Altera sales representative.
