Jam STAPL Programming Support - ASSET Intertech, Inc.

ASSET InterTech, Inc., provides IEEE 1149.1 (JTAG) boundary-scan diagnostic hardware and software solutions to:
- Debug and test integrated circuits, board-level products and systems
- Perform in-system programming of programmable devices.
The company's product family, collectively known as ASSET, provides a set of powerful tools to access, manage, and manipulate boundary-scan paths, allowing ASSET tools to be used to program devices in simple or complex scan paths. ASSET tools have long been used to perform in-system programming of programmable devices such as programmable logic devices (PLDs), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), and FLASH memories. ASSET tools support in-system programmability (ISP) throughout a product's life cycle, from the design/debug process, through the manufacturing/assembly process, to system repair and reprogramming in the field.
ASSET recently announced a new ISP-capable product line that supports the Jam Standard Programming and Test Language (STAPL) and simplifies the task of in-system programming with boundary-scan circuitry. All ASSET ISP products support Windows 95, Windows NT, and hardware controllers for VXI and most popular PC-related backplanes. Current products that support Jam STAPL include ScanProgrammer and ISPAccess.
ScanProgrammer
ScanProgrammer is a stand-alone product that combines the scan path management capabilities of ASSET with the ease-of-use features needed for ISP. ScanProgrammer provides the following features:
- Supports Jam STAPL, Serial Vector Format Files (.svf), and vendor-proprietary methods of in-system programming
- Allows programming of multiple vendors' devices from one user interface and one connection to the board
- Provides a Windows-based user interface
- Provides a way to initialize the scan path and all boundary-scan devices for in-system programming
- Verifies scan path integrity before programming
- Uses programming files created by vendors' tools
- Immediate support of new devices that can be programmed with Jam STAPL or Serial Vector Format files (.svf)
ISPAccess
ISPAccess is an add-on product for any ASSET base system and provides the ability to program devices in-system as part of the boundary-scan test process. Support of Serial Vector Format is a standard feature of all ASSET base systems; ISPAccess adds the following features:
- Supports Jam STAPL and other methods of ISP
- Allows integration of ISP and boundary-scan-based test processes
- Allows quick turnaround of new CPLD designs during boundary-scan-based design debugging with ASSET tools
- Allows integration of ISP into test executive programs such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, HP VEE, or custom manufacturing user interfaces.
