The Nios^® II Core Implementation Details chapter in the Nios II Processor Reference Handbook lists incorrect performance for shift operations on the Nios II /f and Nios II /s cores. When the hardware multiply option is enabled, the cores achieve different shift performance, depending on whether the core uses embedded multipliers or logic element (LE)-based multipliers.

Workaround: Correct performance details are:

• Nios II /f core: 1 cycle using embedded multipliers; 2 cycles using LE-based multipliers.
• Nios II /s core: 3 cycles using embedded multipliers; 4 cycles using LE-based multipliers.
