The Nios II IDE
This section documents changes to the Nios II Integrated Development Environment.
Basic Memory Layout Support
Added ability to specify in the System Library settings in which memory, the stack, heap, and exception stack should reside. Also added support for a separate exception stack.
Mixed C/Assembly Debug View
Added Debug View that displays mixed C and Assembly code.
Run Time Stack Checking
Compiler and target software can check for stack memory overflow if option in System Library is set.
Non-Workspace Files
Added ability to open files that are not in the IDE workspace.
Background Builds and Launches
Added ability to run builds and tool launch processes in the background.
Eclipse/CDT Version Upgrade
Upgraded to Eclipse 3.0.1 and CDT 2.1.1.
This section documents changes to the Nios II toolchain, such as the GNU C compiler (GCC), GNU Debugger (GDB), and other utilities.
There were no significant changes to the toolchain.
This section documents changes to the C libraries, hardware abstraction layer (HAL) and software components included in the Nios II Development Kit.
Updated Lightweight IP to version 1.1.0
This has no effect on the API.
Host Filesystem
A GDB host filing system for use during debugging has been added.
FLUSHDA Instruction Support
HAL support added for new instruction that flushes data cache by address.
Changes to Development Tools Behavior
This section documents instances in which the behavior and default settings of the Nios II Development Kit have changed from earlier releases.
There were no significant changes to the tool default settings.
