Why can't I configure a chain of FLEX 10K devices with more than two EPC1 configuration device?
说明
You can use more than two EPC1 configuration devices to configure a chain of FLEX 10K devices; for example, three EPF10K100 devices can be configured with a chain of four EPC1 configuration devices. However, for certain revisions of the EPC1 configuration device, this configuration setup may fail. A new revision of the EPC1 configuration device has been designed to address this issue. When more than two EPC1 configuration devices (revisions A, B, and C) are used in a chain, the second
device will not tri-state the DATA pin after the device has sent all of its configuration data; instead, the second
device will drive the DATA line high. This high signal causes contention that prevents the third and subsequent
devices from successfully sending data, causing configuration to fail with nSTATUS going low.
This issue affects revisions A, B, and C EPC1 configuration devices. Revision D EPC1 configuration devices operate correctly and are now available.
For availability and ordering information of revision D EPC1 configuration devices please contact the Altera Customer Marketing department at (408) 544-7104.
