Overview
Ranging functionality is required at the base station to determine the presence and timing offset of each subscriber. The relatively high rate of code correlation operations involved make ranging a good target for FPGA-based implementation. Altera’s ranging reference design demonstrates how orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) ranging can be efficiently implemented in Stratix® and Arria® series FPGAs. You can use the reference design as a starting point to accelerate designs based on the 802.16e-2005 standard. Altera supplies the reference design as clear-text register transfer level (RTL) HDL.
