The Quartus® II design software automatically assigns pins to your top-level I/O signals. You can also assign I/O signals to pins by doing any of the following:
- Using the Assignment Editor (on the Assignments menu, click Assignment Editor)
- Using the Pin Planner (on the Assignments menu, click Pins)
- Dragging and dropping nodes from the Node Finder (on the View menu, click Utility Windows, then click Node Finder) to the Timing Closure Floorplan (on the Assignments menu, click Timing Closure Floorplan)
Although pin assignments are shown being made after the compilation in the basic design flow diagram, they can be made before or after compilation.
