Consumer electronics product developers increasingly turn to programmable logic-based solutions to respond to rapidly changing needs of consumers and deliver new features and capabilities, a trend which has been encouraged by the recent proliferation of successful low-cost programmable logic offerings. In the design of their Studio Moviebox Deluxe, Pinnacle Systems leveraged programmable logic flexibility to lower costs and deliver significant product differentiation.
The programmable logic-based approach enabled Pinnacle Systems to reduce their custom logic utilization by nearly two-thirds and integrate several ASSPs into a cost-effective consumer video appliance.
